Vacancies Contact us

All the ‘jobs’ are voluntary. We have been a labour of love since AD 1994. The following ‘jobs’ are currently carried out by one person. Each one offers an opportunity to develop or utilise your skills. All materials and equipment will be supplied. We have limited financial resources, however, the Lord has provided for over fourteen years whatever it is we have needed. If you commit yourself to this ministry to all the saints, you will get what it is you need. It is also worth advising that many dozens of people have helped over the years and many of them have been blessed in other ways because of their involvement with us. Contact us

Editor

The overall responsibility as for what is printed in our paper magazines and what is available on our web sites. The current editor would step aside to allow a better equipped person to have a go. Contact us

Sub Editor

Cobbling together all the information in a fashion that allows the publications to flow. Not an easy job, especially as things often need to be changed to accommodate late information. Contact us

Desk Top Publisher

Computer skills used to present the information on the pages. Usually 24 paper pages of A4. Can be frustrating when one has to drop a page, or hours of work to accommodate other information. Contact us

Reporters

Everything on the 24 pages has to be gathered. We phone leaders and scour church magazines and surf their web sites and scan notice boards and listen to radio Cumbria’s Sunday Breakfast Show and read the local press.

Very little information is forwarded to us un-requested. This has been the attitude of the Church since we began, even before we rattled their cages as regards Carlisle’s Millennium Project. Even Churches Together in Carlisle’s news sheet ‘Carlisle Clarion’ does not receive all the information it requires from its own participating churches.

We circumnavigate resistance and find ways to serve and help even when we are rebuffed. A bit like a loving father, cuddling his child who has a tantrum. Ah!!

Contact us

Fund Raisers

Contacting businesses to advertise with us. We usually phone them and they usually request a copy of the magazine and that usually gathers dust in their in tray’s for a while and then we phone them again and they promise to look at it and sometimes a cheque is sent and sometimes we phone again and a cheque is sent and mostly they say they do not want to advertise with us. We could also organise concerts etc., poetry recitals, competitions, etc..

We once produced an album of local singer songwriters called ‘Unity’. The editor has even busked on the streets, evangelising and singing songs of Jesus. It’s fun, but in our troubled times a man alone can be vulnerable to many whiles of the enemy and so he needs a partner to accompany him in the music, or who is prepared to simply sit and observe.

You may have your own ides and you would be given every assistance to accomplish them. It could be fun! Contact us

Unity Album 2

Would anyone like to produce an album of music by local singer songwriters? If it happened would anyone like to produce some ‘Unity’ concerts to include music, poetry, drama etc..? Contact us

Treasurer

The most boring job known to man - or so the editor says. However, some people have a real and genuine gift for numbers and accuracy and administration. All work would be overseen by an other and the treasurer would definitely not have the responsibility for the finances, however, faultless records are required. We have always made a receipt out for money received, as one form of reference. This information is transferred to our computer data base and this allows instant access to current status and when invoices need to be sent by the administrator.

A weekly record of money in and money out is also required. Receipts for money spent must be kept for confirmations.

We currently spend using our cheque card, or we use a cheque. The cheque books and statements are also used to track money in and out. A yearly financial report must be prepared that confirms to Inland Revenue standards. The Inland Revenue regard us as a charity/club non profit making voluntary initiative. Contact us

Administrator

This job should really be at the top of the list. It is a gift. A gift that is not fully recognised and appreciated. It would be with us.

Every aspect of paperwork would have some contact with the administrator. They administrator would also have preference as regards how they wanted this aspect to operate. Contact us

Computer Support

Not needed much, but some one who can come in when we have a problem (vary rarely) to advise and also help our equipment be efficient.

Web Master

Someone to develop this web site at their own pace. They can design, or just improve, or just upload info provided, or asked for. Contact us

Critical development

People needed to overview our publications with a critical eye for error as regards theology and not offending the saints. Contact us

Proof Reader

There has only been one issue that was nearly perfect. In fact it might have been perfect in its grammar. It was produced by a lady with experience in the newspaper industry. However, with the editor doing everyone of the above tasks and trying to meet a deadline, good enough has always been good enough. Our readers are more often amused than annoyed by our errors. However, a proof reader or two would be a great help. Contact us

Distribution

Any part of this would be a help.

We have a data base print out of addresses to post copies to and also the churches that subscribe and those that will receive free copies. The free distribution changes from issue to issue and so readers hoping for a free copy will be disappointed unless they subscribe.

Stamps have to be bought and some envelopes that contain various numbers have to be weighed and sent.

We distribute to churches by delivering  before Sunday and also on Sunday. As some church leaders, or their members do not want a free press, they have influenced their leadership to stop receiving the magazine. We serve them anyway and most people passing in, or out of the Church are happy and glad to once again receive their copy of Bound Together.

Not many people have the confidence to stand outside a church and face some verbal abuse from a tiny proportion of people. The editor doesn’t even like it, however he does it anyway.

Helpers can deliver to the participating churches where there is no possibility of being rebuffed. Contact us

Evangelism distribution

We are also producing an evangelistic Bound Together newsletter. It will be distributed by pushing through house letter boxes. It will contain the usual evangelistic material and it will also have a recommended list of churches worth attending in the City of Carlisle. If you felt that your church was a suitable place to trust sending a lost soul, we would include your church on the list, providing you organised the distribution in your church location. Contact us

That’s it!

We’ve bound to have forgot something and we will add to the above as we have time. Contact us

PS - did we mention that it is voluntary? - but God is no man’s debter.
