The followers of Jesus have different names for love
based upon the Hebrew of the Old Testament.
Common sense tells us what love is and what love
isn’t. For instance, if someone says that they ‘love’
you, but their deliberate actions cause you pain, it
is probably a good idea to step back and take time
to consider your position. Taking time to be with
Jesus will help you know if they have misunderstood
what love is, or if your hurt is as a result of love
convicting you.
I Cor 13 also provides instruction. It isn’t all about ‘feelings’ -
This page is about finding love. Love can be friendship between people of the same sex, or the opposite sex. Wholesome loving friendship is a gift.

A Sad Tale
I committed my life to Christ at the age of 40. I started returning to ‘church’ at the age of 39. I found that I was to old for the ‘young people’ group and to young for the older groups. That was my particular situation. I found myself befriended by older Christian women. I was glad of Christian fellowship. I heard the scripture Matthew 6:33 a number of times. It made sense and I figured I was in the Lord’s hand and He would meet my needs in His perfect time.
Then I would ask how long they had been on their own (as many of them were divorced, or widowed) and what came back disturbed me. Twelve years, sixteen years and such numbers and I would ask what practical ways they were employing to find someone to love and be loved by. The answer was usually, an embarrassed presentation of well trodden lines, such as, ‘ if it is God’s will, I will find someone’.
I decided that John 10:10 made more sense.
Do not let the thief steal your years.
Step out in faith. Seek and Find. Enjoy the journey at your pace and in control. Don’t give up. Don’t be disappointed. Learn from the experiences.
Above all, keep on praying and expecting.
